In Maine, better than half of our children, children aged birth to 12 years require some form of child day care, just so their parents can work. This means that more than 130,000 Maine children need child care, every day.
When asked what they felt would be the policy measure which would have a “direct positive influence” on their lives, 90% of those Mainers asked stated “Affordable Child Care.” Today, affordable child care is considered essential to all working parents.
Our mission here at Child Care Services of York County is to ensure the delivery of high quality care for York County Families, in safe, nurturing and stimulating environments that allow all children to reach their full potential. We are committed to supporting caregivers through ongoing training, compensation and career advancement.
Child Care Services of York County is funded by contracts with the State of Maine, local municipalities, the United Way of York County, the United Way of the Greater Seacoast, and through the generous donations of members of the community.

Child Care Services of York County, through it’s various programs, is the only county-wide entity providing education, advocacy and support related to child care issues for families, child care providers and local communities.

Quality and Accessibility of child care CANNOT be consumer-driven, because parents are only able to choose the child care options that they can afford.The cost of acceptable child care far exceeds the ability of York County families to pay.
